Grand Opening

As part of UT’s Social Media Week 2016, an open house was held to showcase the facility and its technology-driven learning opportunities from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Thursday, March 31, 2016. The open house was free and open to the public.

Over 100 campus leaders, faculty, staff, and students stopped by for the celebratory event. Another special guest that participated in the Adam Brown Social Media Command Center Open House was CCI alumnus, Ed Patterson (BS/PR ’89). Brown and Patterson were instrumental in the development and continuing expansion of UT’s Social Media Week over the past six years. They had the initial vision of bringing more social media education to CCI.

Official Dedication

The official dedication of the Adam Brown Social Media Command Center took place in April 2016 at the spring CCI Board of Visitors meeting. Adam Brown was present for the dedication and added, “While the Social Studio software can be used by CCI students and faculty from anywhere, the command center houses technology students can use to collaborate, prepare and present their findings,” said Brown. “Social listening data is dynamic, and students will be able to practice presenting real-time data from over one billion sources in a command center environment no different than ones used by top global brands, research firms, government agencies, political campaigns and relief organizations.”

The official plaque establishing the Adam Brown Social Media Command Center resides outside of 460 CUEB.
